Today is Monday, May 2, 1633, two days after the death of Parish Vicar Poul Nielsen Vederholdt.
The assistant priest, Ulrik Balthasar Pedersen, has accused the maidservant Inger Margrethe Hansen of witchcraft.
She is suspected of having cast spells on the Pedersen family and possibly causing Parish Vicar Vederholdt’s illness and death.
Vederholdt fell seriously ill during a dinner at Ulrik Balthasar Pedersen’s house and passed away shortly after.
This case would normally be handled by Ulrik Balthasar Pedersen’s good friend, the Bailiff Otto Skeel at Aalborghus.
However, due to the close friendship between the assistant priest and the bailiff, King Christian IV has decided to call upon you as experts in investigation and interrogation.
Is Miss Hansen guilty, or does the assistant priest have hidden motives behind his accusation?
