The Skagen painter Ninus Simonsen was discovered dead in his studio yesterday, Saturday, July 10, 1909, in a pool of vomit, foam, and blood by his friend Michael Ancher.
Although the studio was secured from the inside, preliminary inquiries indicate that a crime might have been committed because Ninus was discovered wounded after taking a severe blow to the back of the head.
According to Ancher, Ninus’s wife, Pauline Simonsen, and the maid, Miss Klara Skagen, left on Friday, and efforts are underway to locate them.
You have been dispatched as an investigation unit from the Frederikshavn Police District, and when you arrive on the morning train at Skagen Station, you are met by Constable Sofus Madsen.
